As you will be aware the event has been modified to ensure we can adhere to social distancing and the guidelines issued by RunBritain and UK Sport.
Please familiarise yourself with the measures that will be in place at the event HERE.
Thank you for your cooperation with the new regulations in place at the event, these are necessary to ensure a safe environment and mean that we can continue to provide race opportunities.
- This is the first mass participation event in the region since before March 2020 and Covid Procedures will be highly monitored in and around Gateshead International Stadium. We thank you in advance for taking all reasonable steps to follow our agreed plans with the regional Safety Advisory Group.
- Public Health Gateshead have requested we ask all participants to test themselves in the 48 hours prior to the race using Lateral Flow test kits, and ideally twice in the seven days before the event (see info below regarding LFT’s).
Please note: We will NOT require you to demonstrate evidence of this.
- We are requesting you wear a face mask, if possible and not exempt, until the start of the race and either keep your mask for after the race or place it in the bin bags by the start line. Thank you for making others feel more comfortable attending a mass event for the first time in a long time by persevering with this request.
- There will be NO spectators in Gateshead Stadium, we would recommend coming alone or if you are with a spectator the best spots are on the Quayside where you will see the runners 4 times.
- Aim to enter the stadium 1-way system 10-15mins before your start time READY TO RUN.
- The best pre-race plan would be to finish your warm up at your car boot, walk to the stadium ready to run in your race kit to the toilets then when you hear your wave called, casual progress to the area towards the start area.
If you entered before Tuesday 18th May, you will receive a race pack in the post. If you entered after, a pack will be waiting for you to collect on the day. If you are expecting a pack in the post and do not receive it by the Sunday, please head to the information desk before the start of your race and we will issue you with another one.
The entry list can be found HERE.
You will not be able to run without a race number and chip.
NO CHIP MEANS NO TIME.
When you receive your race packs, please take a couple of minutes to fill out the brief runner Information form which can be found printed on the back of your bib. This will help us greatly in case of an emergency!
The colour of your race number will relate to the wave you are starting in. This has been determined by the estimated finish time given when signing up.
Within the event village you will see the start line and each start area marked out with a corresponding coloured sign. When arriving please familiarise yourself with your start area.
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE WAVES.
Each wave will be called to the starting pen where our marshals will guide you into a start formation with 2 runners, all 2m apart, being started every few seconds.
